 ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ 1. ਕਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਰਾਏਪੁਰ ਦਾ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਲਿਖੋ । ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਹੋਇਆ ? ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਜ ਕੱਲ ਪੇਂਡੂ ਉਲੰਪਿਕ ਕਿਓਂ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ? 

ਉੱਤਰ- ਰਾਏ ਲਾਲਾ ਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੇ 1560 ਈ : ਵਿੱਚ ਪਿੰਡ ਰਾਏਪੁਰ ' ਤੇ ਕਬਜ਼ਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ । ਉਸ ਨੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਲਈ ਪੰਜ ਕਿਲ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਰਾਏਪੁਰ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਕਿਲਾ ਰਾਏਪੁਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਸ਼ਹੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ । ਪਿੰਡ ਕਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਰਾਏਪੁਰ ਜ਼ਿਲਾ ਲੁਧਿਆਣਾ ਦੇ ਦੱਖਣ ਵੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਗਿਆਰਾਂ ਕੁ ਮੀਲ ਦੀ ਦੂਰੀ ' ਤੇ ' ਡੇਹਲੋਂ ( ਕਸਬੇ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ) ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਸਥਿਤ ਹੈ । ਪਿੰਡ ਕਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਰਾਏਪੁਰ ਰੇਲਵੇ ਲਾਈਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੜਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ।         ਪੇਂਡੂ ਉਲੰਪਿਕ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ -ਕਿਲਾ ਰਾਏਪੁਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ 1933 ਈ : ਵਿੱਚ ਜਲੰਧਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਾਕੀ ਟੂਰਨਾਮੈਂਟ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਹੋਇਆ । ਇਸ ਟੂਰਨਾਮੈਂਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਿੰਡ ਕਿਲਾ ਰਾਏਪੁਰ ਦੀ ਹਾਕੀ ਟੀਮ ਨੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ । ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਟੂਰਨਾਮੈਂਟ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਮਹੱਤਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਇਸ ਜਿੱਤ ਨੇ ਕਿਲਾ ਰਾਏਪੁਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਅਹਿਮ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨਿਭਾਈ । ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੰਤਵ ਕੱਪ ਜਿੱਤ ਕੇ ਲਿਆਏ ਖਿਡਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਹੌਸਲਾ ਅਫ਼ਜਾਈ ਕਰਕੇ ਹੋਰ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਉਤਸਾਹਿਤ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ । ਜਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੋਚਿਆ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਕਿਲਾ ਰਾਏਪੁਰ ਦਾ ਖੇਡ ਮੇਲਾ ਪੇਂਡੂ ਉਲੰਪਿਕ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪੂਰੀ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾਮਣਾ ਖੱਟੇਗਾ । ਪਿੰਡ ਕਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਰਾਏਪੁਰ ਦੇ ਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਨੇ 1933 ਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਰੇਵਾਲ ਸਪੋਰਟਸ ਐਸੋਸੀਏਸ਼ਨ ਦਾ ਗਠਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸ . ਇੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਗਰੇਵਾਲ , ਸ . ਹਰਚੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਨੁਮਾਈ ਹੇਠ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਖੇਡ ਮੇਲਾ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ , ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਬੱਡੀ , ਵਾਲੀਵਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਐਥਲੈਟਿਕਸ ਦੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਗਏ ।

ਉੱਤਰ- ਕਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਰਾਏਪੁਰ ਦੇ ਖੇਡ ਮੇਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੁਰਾਤਨ ਖੇਡਾਂ- ਇਹ ਖੇਡ ਮੇਲਾ ਪੁਰਾਤਨ ਅਤੇ ਨਵੀਨ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੁਮੇਲ ਹੈ । ਇਹ ਖੇਡ ਮੇਲਾ ਪੰਜ ਦਰਿਆਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਵਸਦੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਜੁਸੇ , ਚੌੜੀਆਂ ਛਾਤੀਆਂ , ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹੇ ਸੁਭਾਅ , ਛੋਲ - ਛਬੀਲੇ ਗੱਭਰੂਆਂ , ਨਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਬਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨਾਮਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਤਰਜਮਾਨੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ । ਇਸ ਖੇਡ ਮੇਲੇ ਨੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਹੀ ਪੁਰਾਤਨ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਲੋਪ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ । ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੇਂਡੂ ਖੇਡ ਮੇਲੇ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਪਿਰਤ ਕਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਰਾਏਪੁਰ ਦੇ ਖੇਡ ਮੇਲੇ ਨੇ ਪਾਈ ਹੈ । ਕਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਰਾਏਪੁਰ ਦਾ ਖੇਡ ਮੇਲਾ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਪੇਂਡੂ ਖੇਡ ਮੇਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ “ ਰੀੜ ਦੀ ਹੱਡੀ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ । ਜਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਖੇਡ ਮੇਲਾ ਹੋਂਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਇਆ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੇਤੀ ਬਦਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਸੀ । ਕਿਸਾਨ ਕੱਤਕ ਦੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਬੀਜ ਕੇ ਵਿਹਲੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਬਦਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਸਤ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਬੈਲਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੌੜਾਂ ਲਗਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ 1934 ਈ : ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਲ ਗੱਡੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੌੜਾਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਵਾਇਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ । ਬੈਲ ਗੱਡੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੌੜਾਂ ਇਸ ਖੇਡ ਮੇਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਰਸ਼ਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਖਿੱਚ ਦਾ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਬਣ ਗਈਆਂ । ਇੱਕ ਸਾਲ , ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਤੋੜ 133 ਬੈਲ ਗੱਡੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਖੇਡ ਮੇਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ । ਇਸ ਖੇਡ ਮੇਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੁਰਾਤਨ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਊਠਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੌੜਾਂ , ਸੁਹਾਗਾ ਦੌੜ , ਮੂੰਗਲੀਆਂ ਫੇਰਨੀਆਂ , ਮਿੱਟੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਰੀਆਂ ਚੁੱਕਣਾ , ਵੱਛਾ ਚੁੱਕਣਾ , ਗਦਾ ਚੁੱਕਣਾ , ਲੇਟ ਕੇ ਸਰੀਰ ' ਤੇ ਟੈਕਟਰ ਚੜਾਉਣਾ , ਦੰਦਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਟੈਕਟਰ ਖਿੱਚਣਾ , ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਟ੍ਰੈਕਟਰ ਖਿੱਚਣਾ , ਦੰਦਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਮਣ ਵਜ਼ਨ ਚੁੱਕਣਾ , ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗਾਂ ਦੀ ਦੌੜ , ਕੁੱਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਦੇੜ , ਘੋੜੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਚ , ਘੋੜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਦੌੜ , ( ਦਿਵਿਅੰਗ ) , ਪੱਥਰ ਚੁੱਕਣਾ , ਦੰਦਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹਲ ਚੁੱਕਣਾ , ਕਬੂਤਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਉਡਾਣਾਂ , ਖੱਚਰ ਦੌੜ , ਹਾਥੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੌੜਾਂ ਆਦਿ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਖਿਡਾਈਆਂ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ । 

        ਕਿਲਾ ਰਾਏਪੁਰ ਦੇ ਖੇਡ ਮੇਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਵੀਨ ਖੇਡਾਂ - ਇਸ ਖੇਡ ਮੇਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਪੱਧਰ ' ਤੇ ਖੇਡੀਆਂ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਹਰ ਸਾਲ ਫਰਵਰੀ ਦੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਕਰਵਾਈਆਂ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ । ਐਥਲੈਟਿਕਸ , ਹਾਕੀ , ਕਬੱਡੀ , ਵਾਲੀਬਾਲ , ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨੇਬਾਜ਼ੀ , ਗੱਤਕਾ , ਜਿਮਨਾਸਟਿਕ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਪੈਰਾ ਗਲਾਈਡਿੰਗ ਸ਼ੋਅ ਇਸ ਖੇਡ ਮੇਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਇਸ ਖੇਡ ਮੇਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਕੀ ਦੀ ਜੇਤੂ ਟੀਮ ਨੂੰ ‘ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਮੈਮੋਰੀਅਲ ਟਰਾਫ਼ੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕਿ 1964 ਈ : ਵਿੱਚ ਸ . ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਗਰੇਵਾਲ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਪੁੱਤਰ ਸ . ਭਗਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ 200 ਤੋਲੇ ਸ਼ੁੱਧ ਸੋਨੇ ਦਾ ਕੱਪ , ਹਾਕੀ ਟੂਰਨਾਮੈਂਟ ਲਈ ਦਾਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ।

Question 1. Write the history of Fort Raipur. How were these games born? Why is it called the Rural Olympics nowadays? 

A. The village of Raipur was captured by a man named Rai Lala in 1560 AD. He built five forts for his sons to ward off the enemy, which made the village of Raipur known as Qila Raipur. The village of Qila Raipur is located about eleven miles south of Ludhiana district, near Dehlon (name of the town). The village Qila Raipur is connected by railway line and roads.        Birth of Rural Olympic Games - The Qila Raipur Games were born in 1933 after the Hockey Tournament at Jalandhar. The hockey team from village Qila Raipur bagged the second place in this tournament. Although the tournament was of no importance, the victory was instrumental in kicking off the Qila Raipur Games. At that time the purpose of these games was to encourage the players who had won the cup and encourage other children towards sports. When these games started, no one would have thought that the Qila Raipur Sports Fair would make a name for itself all over the world in the name of Rural Olympics. The residents of village Qila Raipur formed the Grewal Sports Association in 1933. Inder Singh Grewal, S. Under the guidance of Harchand Singh and other comrades, the first sports fair was organized in which competitions of Kabaddi, Volleyball and Athletics were conducted. 

Q2. Qila Raipur Sports Fair What is the combination of old and new sports? 

Ans- Ancient Games at Fort Raipur Sports Fair-This sports fair is a combination of old and new sports. This sports fair represents the passion of the Punjabis living on the land of the five rivers, wide breasts, open nature, chhol-chhabile ghabhru, nara and the deeds of the Babis. This sports fair saved many ancient games from disappearing. The initiative to organize rural sports fairs in Punjab has been taken by the sports fair at Fort Raipur. Qila Raipur Sports Fair serves as the backbone of Punjab's rural sports fairs. When this sports fair came into existence, farming was done in Punjab with Badas. Farmers become idle by sowing crops in the month of Katak. To prevent the ducks from becoming sluggish, the farmers decided to run bullock carts and in 1934, bullock cart races were started. Bullock cart races became the center of attraction for the spectators at this sports fair. One year A record 133 bullock carts participated in the fair. The sports fair includes traditional sports such as camel races, icing races, mung bean ferns, earthenware pickups, calf picking, calf picking, mattress lifting, lying on the body tractor, pulling tractor with teeth, pulling tractor with ears, one with teeth. Weightlifting, seniors' races, dog races, horse dances, horse races, (Divyang), stone lifting, plowing with teeth, pigeon flights, mule races, elephant races etc. are played. 

        Innovative Games at Qila Raipur Sports Fair - The world class games are held in the month of February every year in this sports fair. Athletics, hockey, kabaddi, volleyball, shooting, gatka, gymnastics competitions and para gliding shows are conducted in this sports fair. In this sports fair, the winning hockey team is given the 'Bhagwant Singh Memorial Trophy' which was awarded to Mr. Prahlad Singh Grewal married his son S. A 200 tola pure gold cup dedicated to the memory of Bhagwant Singh was donated for the hockey tournament.
